UFC 314: Volkanovski Dominates Lopes in Featherweight Clash

Alexander Volkanovski put on a show of his technical mastery at the recently held main card of UFC 314. He defeated Diego Lopes in a dominating fashion. Volkanovski, known as the featherweight king, used his well-known move set of keeping pressure on opponent, targeted striking and greater intelligence to control the fight. Earlier in the fight, Lopes did come hard at him but Volkanovski gradually took over and secured a unanimous decision reminding the division about his king status.

Volkanovski’s strategy was on point as he had answer to all the submission attempts and attacks that Lopes threw at him. Volkanovski used his rigorous training routines to fullest as he showcased his impressive striking and successful takedowns. Volkanovski’s performance yielded results as Lopes could not capitalize on his few moments of success of his untraditional style striking. The Aussie’s leg kicks proved too much for Lopes and wore him down in the later rounds.

Lopes’ Couldn’t Capitalize 

Diego Lopes fought with a lot of energy and showcased his creative side by untraditional striking. He was challenging Volkanovski with attempted takedown and striking. His valiant efforts were visible as he showed his readiness for the competition. Lopes, known for his fiery style of fighting, left Volkanovski stunned on multiple occasions in the initial rounds.  His daring performance earned him respect among MMA fans. 

 Alexander Volkanovski’s Future 

Volkanovski’s win over Lopes has earned him a spot in the title picture again. Another fight with the Division Champion Ilia Topuria, or a match with the UFC veteran Max Holloway are the possibilities of the near future. On the other hand, Diego Lopes has become a household name because of his intense and untraditional fighting style with possibility of fighting the top 10 guys of the division.

Main card fight looked like the highlight reel of Volkanovski’s technical mastery, though the competitors did not earn any bonuses. UFC 314 also featured several other matches, but the Volkanovski’s skill in the main event eclipsed everyone else.
